Google Plus (Google+) is shutting down in April 2019. For many, this news barely elicits an eyebrow raise. The social media platform never really took off. So why is this news important for businesses?
Many digital marketers – including us – encouraged our clients to have a presence on Google+. As one of Google’s properties, it made sense to make sure that anything a business could do to leverage its presence was in place.
So now what?
Google Plus was originally slated to be shut down in August 2019. The early shutdown is due to security concerns. If you were an avid user of the platform, it might make sense for you to download or save what you’d like to keep before it’s too late. To do that you can use Google’s official tool called Google Takeout.
If you are the type who doesn’t like to have any loose ends, we recommend saving your data and deleting your profile.

We can’t say enough about the benefits of Google My Business! Be sure you claim your Google My Business listing and take advantage of all it has to offer. This is especially important for local businesses. This is how your business will show up in Google Maps and Google Local searches.
Make sure your listing is up-to-date with your correct address, phone and website. You can also include photos of your business, your team and your products. And you can manage your Google reviews!!!
